Reaction constants of renin in juxtaglomerular apparatus and plasma renin activity after renal ischemia and hemorrhage.
Reaction constants of renin in juxtaglomerular apparatus and plasma renin activity after renal ischemia and hemorrhage. During and after total renal ischemia and acute hemorrhage, renin activity in plasma (PRA) and microdissected juxtaglomerular apparatus (JGA) of rabbits were investigated. In controls, the apparent Michaelis-Mentoen constant (MMC) of semipurified standard renin of rabbits was ...
متن کاملMalignancy following renal transplantation.
After transplantation, there is an increase in the incidence of a wide variety of malignancies compared to the general population, due to the chronic use of immunosuppressive agents. They appear to have a more aggressive behavior and a worse outcome. As a result, among recipients of renal transplantation, malignancy is the third most common cause of patient death with graft function, after card...
متن کاملPlasma renin activity and plasma prorenin assays.
Sensitivity and accuracy are essential features of an assay of plasma renin activity (PRA) because the normal concentration of PRA is only 1 pmol/L, and subnormal concentrations have diagnostic relevance. Conditions for blood collection need to be standardized but the conditions are not difficult for outpatients. For routine diagnostic purposes blood should be collected from ambulatory (ideally...
متن کاملDeterminants of Plasma Renin Activity
The plasma renin activity (PRA) is affected by a number of environmental factors. However, significant heritability has been shown for the activity. A hypothesis that a candidate regulatory single-nucleotide polymorphism, C-5312T, of human renin gene should have a significant effect on PRA was elucidated and updating of independent determinants of PRA was attempted. Cross sectional study.
متن کاملPostoperative serum cholinesterase activity following successful renal transplantation.
For 6 months after renal transplant serum cholinesterase concentrations were measured in 10 patients. The value decreased in the first 15 days after operation, but was normal thereafter. Liver function tests were normal throughout the study; the cholinesterase changes were independent of immunosuppressive therapy.
